We live in a world where Black bodies are under constant threat — racial trauma and oppression can cause us to feel disconnected and uncomfortable in our bodies.
They can also increase symptoms of depression, and post traumatic stress disorder. ⠀
I help black women connect with their bodies, so they have a greater sense of what it feels like to be well.
And by well, I mean vital, alive, and whole.
Having lived with depression for more than 20 years, this strong black woman knows a thing or two about feeling numb and disconnected from both my body and my emotions.

Live classes are 75-minutes long and contain a lesson on emotion regulation and the nervous system. They also include an invitation to explore the concepts we discuss individually and with the group.
In addition, there will be weekly movement prompts in your digital journal that you can move through on your own time and in your own space, should you choose to. These prompts will help you to integrate the lessons from the live classes and support you in fostering greater resilience.

This exploration can happen in small and big ways — from breath, to noticing your heart beat, to opening and closing your hands, or bigger movements.
Not quite as there will not be any formal diagnoses.
We will, however, focus on mental and emotional well-being and spend a fair amount of time exploring emotion regulation.
It's a good idea to continue working with a therapist individually, if there are issues requiring more personalized support.
