The Wise Body Support Circle

We live in a world where Black bodies are under constant threat — racial trauma and oppression can cause us to feel disconnected and uncomfortable in our bodies.

They can also increase symptoms of depression, and post traumatic stress disorder. ⠀

Keep scrolling if this sounds interesting!

As black folks we can't address our mental health without also addressing our bodies. ⠀

In this holistic, trauma-informed space we invite movement and somatic exploration to help us move toward body liberation and collective healing.

I help black women connect with their bodies, so they have a greater sense of what it feels like to be well.

And by well, I mean vital, alive, and whole.

Having lived with depression for more than 20 years, this strong black woman knows a thing or two about feeling numb and disconnected from both my body and my emotions.

I am the queen of pushing through with a straight face because if I don't do it, who else is gonna make a way outta no way!

If you're here, I imagine you are too!

A registered dance/movement psychotherapist and holistic nutritionist.

Wanna be queens together, in healing rather than suffering?

Cool, me too!

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this work?

Great question!

Once you sign up, you'll have immediate access to our private membership platform. This platform contains a pre-recorded lesson on the nervous system along with a somatic practice, which you can access right away

Live classes are 75-minutes long and contain a lesson on emotion regulation and the nervous system. They also include  an invitation to explore the concepts we discuss individually and with the group.

In addition, there will be weekly movement prompts in your digital journal that you can move through on your own time and in your own space, should you choose to. These prompts will help you to integrate the lessons from the live classes and support you in fostering greater resilience.

Do I need to be a dancer to join the circle?

No. The only requirement is that you are human and interested in exploring the ways in which your body interacts and responds to your emotions and life situations.

This exploration can happen in small and big ways — from breath, to noticing your heart beat, to opening and closing your hands, or bigger movements.

Is this therapy?

Not quite as there will not be any formal diagnoses.

We will, however,  focus on mental and emotional well-being and spend a fair amount of time exploring emotion regulation.

It's a good idea to continue working with a therapist individually, if there are issues requiring more personalized support.

how large is the circle?

Good question!

We are not capping enrollment for this offering — our live calls will range in size from 1-50. Group size is dependent upon membership enrollment and member availability for live sessions.

How much does this cost?

The cost to participate in The Wise Body Support Circle is $45/month.

There is no ongoing commitment to the membership and you can cancel at any time.

When do we start and end?

The first session will be held July 1, 2021 and we'll meet every other Thursday thereafter from 7:00-8:15pm EST (convert to your time zone here) — except major holidays.

Group sessions will be recorded.
